I know about this line and its history but the marriage with the Stewart (Scottish) princess never took place. The house of Lusignan had started out as "French" and a Crusader family but it got plenty of Greek. They married with the family of Comnenus at least twice and when the Comnenid emperors of Byzantium continued as emperors of Trebizond the Lusignans continued as kings of Armenia. Lord Anthony Rivers or "Antioch-Lusignan-Rivers" had a double descent from the kings of Jerusalem. Almeric I de Lusignan, 1st King of Cyprus m. Eschiva d'Ibelin and had a son Hugh I de Lusignan, King of Cyprus (this was the first descent) then this Hugh married Alice de Champagne who had the second descent. Baldwin II of Jerusalem m. Morphia of Melitene--a Comnena cousin--their dau. was Melusina (d. 1161) who m. 1129 Fulk count d'Anjou and their son was Almeric I d'ANJOU King of Jerusalem 1126-1173 who m. 1167 Marie Comnena--like I say, at least two Comnenides--they had a daughter Isabel d'Anjou Queen of Jerusalem ( d. 1208) who m. Henry II Count de Champagne ( d. 1197) and those were the parents of Alice de Champagne.Hugh I King of Jerusalem and Alice de Champagne had dau. Marie de Lusignan who m. Gauthier IV comte de Brienne and had son Hugues comte de Brienne who m. Isabelle de la Roche and their son Gauthier V C. de Brienne was Duc d'Athene and m. Jeanne de Chatillon. Their dau. Isabelle de Brienne m. Gauthier III d'Enghien whose son Louis d'Enghien C. de Brienne m. Jeanne de St.Severino and their dau. Margguerite d'Enghien m. Jean de Luxembourg and had a son Pierre de Luxembourg de St. Pol who m. Marguerite de Baux and their daughter Jacqueline de Luxembourg was Anthony Rivers's mother. Now the 1400s were the period of "Regina" because there were different queens of Cyprus. Greek queen Eleni Palialogina niece of last Byzantine emperor Constantine Paliologou was wife of King John II of Cyprus 1432-1458. Katerina Cornaro last queen was wife of Jacob II 1460-1473 and reigned alone 1474-1489.She was the Lady of D'Aloso painted by Titian and her only child Jacques III died in 1474 a year after her husband's death. And earlier there was Queen Charlotte 1458-1464 rel. to James II the Bastard? 1464-1473. In 1458 Jean II last MALE of the line died without male heirs. His only sister Anne ( d. 1462) had m. Louis I de Savoie. His only dau. Charlotte ( d. 1487) was recognised as Queen of Cyprus, Armenia and Jerusalemand m. her 1st cousin Louis de Savoie but she was dethroned in 1460 by a bastard son of her father, namely Jacques II ( d. 1473) and fled to Italy. In 1485 she ceded her rights to her husband's nephew Charles I duke of Savoie. In 1489 another queen Caterina Cornero ceded HER rights to the Venetian Republic. Kings of Sicily and Rene d'Anjou also claimed it. Even the (Habsburg) Austrian emperors and Kings of Spain did. Also the modern house of Lorraine since 1700. So it is not surprizing therefore Anthony Rivers was in Venice in 1476 using the name Anthony Arnite. But his claim was going to be pushed ( past male relatives of his mother by the way) by King Edward IV of England, his brother-in-law, but this never came to pass because they both died in 1483 and six years later Venice took his claim for itself.
