Zupan - Croatia ( Lika - Dalmatia)

Hi everyone,
my name is Maja Zupan and i am from Croatia, Zadar. My ancestors came from Lika (Sveti Rok) to Krusevo (near Zadar)and lived there from many years, manily all croatian Zupans that I know are from there and there are some from Benkovac, Croatia but they are not related. After WW II most of them went to live in Slavonia (Djakovo, Vinkovci, Slavonski Brod)in Croatia because of the famine but in 1950s some of them returned, as my family.
My father's granddad ( Ivan Zupan married to Stevanija Bubnjar) emigrated to France, Marseille or nearby in 1930s and run his own business there(something like b&b in those times). There is a possibility that I might have some relatives under Zupan name that i don't know about.
If there's someone with any info pls let me know.
As it seems to be Slovenian and Croatian Zupans are not the same - in croatian it's also pronounced differently.
The meaning of the word is zupan - the county ruler, the word is used also today.
