I suspect that Jacob Zimmerman may have had a relationship with the daughter of the Mohawk Sachem, "King Henry." though he may have formally married the Anna Margretha Schutz, and had the rest of his children by her.
A Johann Hendrick Mingo, b. in Mohawk Valley, NY around 1728 is listed in the 1792 census of St. Margaret's Bay, Nova Scotia. Notes say the following: "John MINGO - Mingo is the english for Algonquin Mingwe which means "Iroquois". John MINGO aka John [Henry] HENDRICK / KENDRICK Mohawk (Kanienkehaka) was born ca 1728 in the Mohawk Valley (Kanienke), he died ca 1792-3 possibly at St Margarets Bay. He's listed as a "Foreign Protestant" probably because his father was a Dutch trader so he spoke that language, and he was perhaps also baptised by the Dutch (he was one of the Mohawks who converted to Christianity)."
This John Mingo married a woman who was the daughter of a father of Dutch and Swedish heritage and a mother of Munsee Lenape (Delaware) Indian heritage. This couple left descendants by two surnames, Mingo and Kendrick, in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. I believe these are ancestors of mine through my maternal 4th great-grandmother, Nancy (Mingo) Mattatall, b. 1794, of Tatamagouche, NS.
