ZIMMERMAN / Miami Co, IN
I hope someone can help me.If anyone is perhaps related to this family, I would like very much to have contact.
I realize when researching the surname ZIMMERMAN, looking for a specific person and/or a family is reminiscent of attempting to empty the ocean using a funnel.Which isn’t made easier when I have relatively little information to begin with?
Johann Benedikt "John Benedict" ZIMMERMAN, b. c. 1825, German Cantons of Switzerland, (Solothurn, Aetingen, Germany), d. c. 1879, Harrison Twp, North Grove, Miami Co, IN.His wife was Anna Maria "Mary" Vogt, b. 28 May 1825, German Cantons of Switzerland, (Breslau, Stadt, Schlesienm, Germany), d. 9 Sep 1904, Harrison Twp, North Grove, Miami Co, IN.
Anna Maria’s father was Gottfried (Focht, Vaught, Voigt, Voit) Vogt, mother was Anna Rosina "Maria" Larisch, immigrated 19 May 1845.
John Benedict immigrated on the Ship Name: Francis Depau, Port of Departure: Havre, Port of Arrival: New York. Arrival Date: May 20, 1847.
Anna Maria and John Benedict were married 13 Aug 1847, Tuscarawas Co, OH, soon thereafter they migrated to Miami Co, IN.
John Benedict had a brother Joseph that immigrated with him, Joseph was b. c. 1823, German Cantons of Switzerland, (Solothurn, Aetingen, Germany).
John Benedict and Anna Maria had at least 8 children, all born in Miami Co, IN.Their first born son, John Harris ZIMMERMAN, migrated to Maryland, he is my great grandfather. The other children are believed to have remained in Indiana.
I am looking for information regarding John Benedict’s brother Joseph ZIMMERMAN, b. c. 1823; I don’t have any information about what happened after he arrived in Indiana, also I would like to learn about the other descendants.
Any information is deeply appreciated.
Thank you.
