I have a group photo of the "Frster Uniformierter Riding des Deutschen Unterstutzungs Bundes_____ Cleveland OHIO.The First Uniformed Unit of the German Support Federation in Cleveland Ohio. All 18 men are in a military type of uniform complete with hat and sword.They stand with the American flag.Range in age from 16 to 60.One gent in the middle is in a darker uniform with 3 medals on his chest.My Great uncle Robert J. Zimmermann is in the photo.He appears to be in his mid twentys. Photo was taken circa 1880s.Robert came before the rest of his family and settled in Cleveland. His father Christian Zimmermann and Mother Etelinda Mueller came to America in 1881 and came directly to central Wisconsin and settled. Robert was married 15 Sept 1883 to Hulda Mueller in Cleveland.They had three sons and a daughter. Julius, Amanda, Robert and Otto.Later at the age of 73 he married again to aMinnie Hartwig22 Dec 1932 in Cleveland.Robert J. Zimmermann came from West Prussia and was a blacksmith by trade. He partnered in a business in 1901.Zimmermann & Jahncke Carriage and Wagon Builders.painting and blacksmithing etc. repairs promptly attended to. I have an old letterhead with the address of 1786 Lorain Street and 157 Berlin Street 20 Aug 1901.His brother Freiderich Zimmermann was confirmed in Frystadt, West Prussia Germany and his sister Mary Ann (Dickoff)was born in Mariewerder, West Prussia Germany. I do not know any other people in the photo. I do not have any relatives in Cleveland Ohio.Does anyone know any information about the First Uniformed Unit support group of 1880's.I Need a Cleveland Ohio connection.Thank you.
