Searching for Zielke/Kowalske from Milwaukee to Detroit

Hello all of you fine Zielkes

I'm trying to track down my Zielke line past about 1904 from Russia (according to the census). I am the gr, gr grandson of Fred A Zielke. Fred was born abt 1870. He married Amelia (Malley) Kowalske and lived in Milwaukee, WI in 1910. The 1910 census has them living with thier step children Herman and Lydia Kowalske. However, family lore has Herman as Fred's stepbrother, not stepson. The entire family moved to the Detroit, MI area and eventually lived in Dearborn, MI.

Fred and Amelia had 5 children, Martha, Alexander, Bertha, Joanna (Johanna), and Albert. All of which the census says were born in Russia.

The family has always considered ourselves as German. My grandfather, Albert, spoke German in the house when they didn't want my father to understand what they were saying.

I have some pretty good information about the family after Fred and Amelia. I'm looking for any information on Fred or Amelia, or the Zielke and Kowalske family before them.
