Fern, You never mentioned if you have done any studies of Luxembourg civil registration records. My Zenner ancestor also immigrated from Lux (Reisdorf) to Chippewa Falls, WI, and I knew only a rough birth year and a few siblings. After researching the civil registrations, I was able to locate his family and birth, death, marriage records going back 2 generations. Your ancestor's sister will help you narrow choices of George born 1837. You'll make a list of Georges with given parents, then track down Angelina. The records are very easy to read, not at all like some horrendous German records I've had to slog through. The French probably had something to do with it. They INDEXED for one thing!! These towns in Lux are remarkably small. You will also need a good map. I think you're looking at Beaufort in Canton Echternach. I know you said the town was only 4 miles from Diekirch, but 4 miles is huge in Luxembourg. One of my ancestors was from Consdorf in Echternach, but associated with Diekirchers just fine. Go to http://www.eskimo.net/~lisanne/index.html to begin your research. Click on "Research in Luxembourg" http://www.rootsweb.com/~luxwgw/research.htm Start reading. You'll also need to access a family history library to get the microfilms. Good luck. It'll be worth all the work once you're past the learning curve. Mary C. Notify Administrator about this message?
