Zellmer Family Genealogy Forum

Dear Mark - I just received the marriage record from Milwaukee for my great-grandfather, Ernest Kruger. It lists his parents as Frederick Kruger and Rosina Zellmer. They all arrived from Posen, Prussia in June of 1868 on the ship Auguste. Rosina's age is listed on the ship's list as 39 (born in 1829?), although according to the 1900 census, she says she was born in August of 1823. Ernest Kruger's marriage record also says his place of birth is Prusietz, Posen, Prussia (which is now the vicinity of Wagrowiec in Poland).
For some reason, although the Krugers listed their destination as Minnesota on the ship's list, by 1870 they were living in Pennsylvania (They could have gone to Minnesota and returned, but I don't think they ever got there) Ernest, born in 1852, according to family lore, returned to Germany on several occasions, bringing back more immigrants from Posen to the Milwaukee area, where he lived himself for a while, before returning to PA.
I do not know who Rosina Zellmer's parents were, but I think it is highly likely that she had siblings who also came to the US.
