I thought it was interesting to learn that your grandfather has lived near Kiev. My grandfather: ZEITLIN, Alfred Aron Arnold, was borne Nov.21, 1863 in Schuteiken, a place now being a part of Kiev. He emigrated through Antwerp-Belgium, to Medan - Sumatra (Indonesia) in 1892, where he lived until de died in 1938. He was married in Dresden (Germany) to Martha Ernestine Gräfe, borne in Dresden May 16, 1867, who, however, never followed him to Asia. My father did. My father was borne in Dresden, Sept.7, 1890, named Hans Alfred Zeitlin. He had 3 sisters, Louke (who lived for many many years in Kopenhagen), Deli and Steffa, who remained in Germany.
My father got 3 sons and 1 daughter, all borne in Medan (Indonesia) The oldest boy: Robert Alfred Peter borne in 1925, probably residing somewhere in the UK. Second boy: Hans Louis borne in 1928, since many years living in Australia. Daughter named Ellen Martha borne in 1931 living in The Hague (Netherlands) Finally myself borne in 1933, Hubert Hans Zeitlin, today living in Belgium.
My parents were once visited (in the fifties) by Ernst Zeitlin from London. My brother Hans met Leon and Bella Zeitlin in Australia. I guess they believe to be a decendent from a brother of my grandfather.
If this info rings a bell to any Zeitlin, please send a mail. Thank you.
