Leanne--

Excerpt from researcher notes for the ZENNER
Family Book : (read German?)

I was not suggesting a variant to your surname...just indicating that from the 14th century , surnames were started and changes in spelling started... shortly there after.

It took the Elite/Noble family surname about 150 years to stabilize...then the rest of the people were given the chance , in 1300, to select their own surname; in most cases those with some money choose their name...others were "given" a surname of the "Royal Auctioneers"...some very funny!!

CHeers--

George
