Not a problem. Your gr-gr grandfather Lewis was born about 1854 in Maryland, but his older brother, Charles, was born about 1850 in Hesse, Darmstadt. That suggests that your gr-gr-gr grandfather, Charles, immigrated between 1850 and 1854. Therefore, the US Population Censuses for 1860 through 1930 contain many details about your ancestors, and that is where I was looking. If you will permit it, I will forward my notes (with complete source citations) to you off-line via Email, as I doubt that very many on this Forum will have any interest in the details. (Do not post your email address on this forum - I already have it.) There will be no charge, of course. You actually have a very interesting family - as do most people when they start learning about it. You will also want to set about looking at additional records. For example, your grandfather, Louis (1902-1976), died Feb 1976, possibly near Berlin, Worcester, MD. You will want to obtain his death record, obituary, and marriage license (probably about 1924 in Baltimore), and have a close look at what those documents teach you. The more you learn, the more opportunities to discover even more about your heritage will become evident to you. In closing, I might remark that you are very fortunate to have photos of your gr-grandfather and gr-gr grandfather. Not everyone is that lucky. William J.
