I have a David Zehner who married a Sophia Swartz in Ohio. He was the first cousin of my Great Great Grandfather Franklin (1816-1889). Franklin Father was David Zehner (1785-1863). My David (1785-1863) had a brother Joseph Zehner (b. abt. 1799 in Berks Co. PA), married Hanna Seigerwalt in Berks County, PA and had David, Sarah, Joseph, Catherine, Hanna, Elizabeth, Watson and Wilson Zehner. Their David marrried Sophia Swartz.
My Great Great Grandfather's father was ( and also your Joseph's father)Peter Zehner (1760-1831). He took his whole family except my David and moved to Ohio. Peter is burried in Mifflin, Ohio.
Peter's father was Adam Zehner (1726-1809)who imigrated from Germany in 1754.
All this, except for the information on my David is in the Zehner/Hoppes Genealogy Book by Carpenter mentioned several times on this web page. The book says Peter took his whole family but one to Ohio and speculates the one left behind was Joseph. David was left behind. The book is wrong and can be confirmed at St. Peter's Church records in Mantzville, PA. Peter and his family are buried in the Zehner Cemetery, Mifflin, Ohio
I am willing to share any info I have with with anyone. My software is Family Tree Maker, Ver. 9 and can send files. Please send my any info you have on decendents of David and Sophia Zehner. The Zehner book stops there.
