I am seeking information on my great grandmother's ZAMORA/GARCIA line. Her name was Maria Rita GARCIA, daughter of Jose Valentino GARCIA (ZAMORA).
This lineage contains several members who were APACHE indian ancestry assimilated into Spanish colonial culture in New Mexico.
At one point, some of the descendants of Maria MARTIN de ZAMORA began using the GARCIA surname after Juan Cristobal ZAMORA married Maria Ignacia Francisca GARCIA de NORIEGA. Some of the children of this couple were known by GARCIA as well as ZAMORA.
If anyone has any information about this family line, I would like to hear from you. Corrections or additions are certainly welcome.

married Marìa MARTÍN DE ZAMORA, daughter of Luis MARTÍN SERRANO III (1652-) & María de la VEGA (1658-bef 24 Oct 1711). Born in 1688 in Guadalupe del Paso, Reyno de Nuevo México, Nueva España.1 Marìa died in Alburquerque, Bernalillo, Nuevo México. Member of Diego de Vargas Reconquest of NM.
Maria was probably the natural daughter of Luis Martin Serrano III as she was born in 1688. When her mother, Maria de la Vega, re-married Juan de Zamora, Maria Martin became his step-daughter and was also known as Maria Zamora.It seems that here is where the Zamora surname entered into this line.
They had the following children:
i. Juan Tomàs. Born in 1708 in Alburquerque, Bernalillo, Nuevo México. Juan Tomàs died in Tomé, Nuevo México., in 1757; he was 49.2
