My Zahnow line (my mother is Arvilla Zahnow-Clarke) also came from the Baltic area....Stettin.I think when they are all in an area like that they are usually related. My Gr Grandfather, Freidrich Zahnow (BD 1855) (his father was Karl Zahnow who married Dorothea Rader and remained in Stettin) emmigrated in November 1882 through Ellis Island...to Cleveland, Ohio to see his brother and sister who were already here.Friedrich married Wilhelmina Zander and lived in Detroit by Oct 1883.I have found a Charles Zahnow in Cleveland and think he is my gr grandfather's brother. There was a Charles Zahnow working in Detroit in 1883 at the time my gr grandfather first went there too. I haven't found their sister yet. I have heard that the Saginaw Zahnows are cousins. We don't know how we are cousins yet.My sisters, Aunt and I went to Saginaw and picked up a bunch of Zahnow data out of the court house in Saginaw 2 years ago to see if we could find a connection.I will share with you if you don't have it.
I usually only work on genealogy on Sunday PMs.I am an accountant...and it's tax season.Keep in touch. We may be cousins.
