I do not think we have an exact date of our Zahm's coming into the U.S. I think in the 1830's most Zahm's came into Buffallo and then went on the canal to Ohio but we have no proof of ours, no ship list etc. If anyone has that it would be great:
Ours were in Huron co Ohio, George one of the brothers died in Buffalo Ny in 1844, so we think into Ohio @1835-37??
They remained there until Mrs. Zahm died 1838, he remarried and as the story goes none of the sons like her so when they were old enough they all took off to thier own land, each to a different state, Henry to South Dakota,
John Anthony to Ks-Okla border, eventually to Nebraska, Bernard to Ill., Michael to Minn, George to Michigan
Katherine we have no idea what happened to her, in his will he wrote since Katherine has already gotten her share and has married Anthony Zahm (yes that is correct)
she will get no more.
we think they came into Ks etc @1860
So we know for sure they were in Ohio in 1838, the last child was b in Germany 1831 so that is the time frame
The Zahm in Ks/Oklahoma ran in the Cherokee strip but did not get a homestead so settled on the Ks Okla line at that time, previously had settled near Rulo Nebraska on the Ks/Nebr line from Ks then up to Spalding Greely co Nebr.
born in Rulo Nebr. (falls City) was my grandma Caroline 1865 she has many many Indian stories as they were very much around at that time
