Barbara,

Here's what it says in the Zabriskie Book...

185 NEESJE (NASTIA_NASHA) ZABRISKIE - dau of Hendrick C. Zabriskie (38), born 7 Jan 1759 at Paramus and chr there 21 jan 1759. She died 15 Nov. 1846 in Mills Twp, Laporte Co, Ind., aged 87-10-8. She was buried there in the Oak Grove Cemetary.

Married 10 May 1781 at Parmus (spelling?) to Henry Van Dalsem, son of Johannes Van Dalsem and Geertje Kuyper. He was born in NYC and chr there 14 Aug, 1757. He served in the revolution in both the New York and New Jersey troops. After the War, he lived for awhile in Schnectady, N.Y. In 1803 he was appointed Judge of the Court on Common Pleas of Bergen Co., and the next year was appointed County Clerk. The land records of Bergen Co. show that he lived in Franklin twp in 1796 and in 1805: in New Barbados Twp, (likely in Hack) in 1809; in Bergen Twp (in Jersey City) in 1811 and in 1817. In a letter dated 1875 his son William stated that Henry served as Collector of Customs of the Port of Jersey City during this period. The family went to Indiana in 1819 according to William's letter of 1875; federal census records and land records show that Henry was in Ind. in 1820. In 1822 he lived in Somerset Co., N.J., and in 1823 in NYC. He and his family, except one son, moved again to Indiana. He died 10 Mar 1835 in Mills Twp. Laporte Co, aged 77 years. He was buried in the Oak Grove Ceme.

The book also lists 10 children. I checked AbeBooks.com to see if any copies of this book were for sale, but none were listed. If I can be of more help, please ask!

Gordon Smythe
