Cornelius Yowell: VA (~1784), OH, KY, IL
I'm looking for a connection with a known Virginia Yowell line for Cornelius Yowell, born about 1784 in VA. His wife was Clara Ann (unknown)(b~1790 in VA). They were in Ohio in the 1807-1813 time period, Indiana in the 1813-1818 time period, Kentucky (Gallatin and Carroll Counties) in the 1818-1855 time period, and in Montgomery County IL from 1855 onward.
I presume that Cornelius was a Yowell because his name was spelled Yowl on the 1820 KY census
The names of his children may provide a clue as to his VA family. The known children and their approximate birth years are:
1. (male) 1804-1810 (1808) based on 1820 census; gone by 1830
2. Fielden 1809, OH; gone by 1830
3. William 1810, OH; gone by 1830
4. Isaiah 1816, IN
5. (Female) 1815-1820 based on 1830 census; gone by 1850
6. Jeremiah 1821, KY
7. Permilla 1824, KY
8. (male) 1825-1830 based on 1830 census; gone by 1840 (died?)
9. Letitia 1828, KY
The part of Gallatin County KY occupied by Cornelius became part of Carrol County KY in 1837. Both Fielden and William show up with their families in the 1840 Carroll County census. Cornelius and Fielden remained in KY until the mid 1850s; they appear in the 1860 Montgomery County IL census. William left earlier. He appears in both the 1850 and 1860 Montgomery County IL censuses.
