Thomas N. Youree
Hi Joyce & Jody!LONG time...I haven't had much time for genealogy for awhile - and what time I've had, I've been researching my daughter-in-law's Mississippi ancestors (after the 3rd grandchild, decided I'd better give them more branches on the family tree...)
Anyway, while perusing the Youree messages to catch up, I noticed that you both expressed interest in what happened to Thomas N. Youree after the 1850 census - and I may have an answer for you.
I'm a McElroy (yep, same ones for whom theMcElroy Road was named in Rutherford County - near the Carnaham Cemetery?)Anyway, grandpa Matthew Lile McElroy was a carpenter and furniture maker in Rutherford Co. area - also a coffin maker. He kept an account book - unfortunately only a few pages still exist (or have been found)and were transcribed (sort of) by a cousin who actually saw the "diary".Unfortunately, the years aren't in order, nor are many years complete by any means - but among the notations in 1853 (just after February account entries) is mention that Thomas Youree died...
Not only did my McElroys live in Youree district, but Matthew's brother Adam Jr. married Margaret Youree, daughter of Francis Jr. (proven by a deed after Francis' death)My ancestor was Elizabeth Isabell, daughter of Francis' brother James and an unknown first wife (his second wife was Dorothy Hardeman) - also proven by deeds.
Anyway, that is my 2 cents for the day - I'm supposed to be at the grocery store to re-stock our empty shelves - but 5 hours ago, thought I'd just do a "quick" check on the computer.......
Did I ever post any of the Meckenburg Co. Youree and Hart info that I found in Mecklenburg Co. books of abstracts that I bought?Nothing definite, but interesting - I've tried to research some of the other names mentioned in that deed, but keep hitting dead ends...
Kind regards!
LaVerne
