"Old Soldier" George Yount of Shelby Co.

1. Pvt. George Yount "Old Soldier", b December 27, 1757, either Pennsylvania or Virginia, served in the War of the Revolution as a Regular discharged at Ft. Pitt, 1779, was at "Painted Stone Station" at occurence of the Long Run Massacre, died May 9, 1824, per Revolutionary War Record, probably Shelby County, KY. He was the son of Hans (John)Yount baptised December 4, 1729 d abt 1813, Shelby Co., KY (deed dated 1828, signed by all of George Yount's children, clearning a deed to Margaret Bell, land that belonged to their ancestor, John Yount, land purchased by John Yount from a Sheriff's sale.) No proof has been found for George Yount's mother. George Yount married

Mary (Polly) Underwood February 24, 1781 at Boone's Station, Jefferson Co., KY. Polly was born November 2, 1765, Delaware, died February 8, 1840, Shelby Co., KY per Court Order of Shelby Co., KY, the daughter of Mary (Crow) and Benjamin Underwood. Mary (Crow) b abt 1740, daughter of Walter Crow and Ann Newman died 1818 per probate in Shelby Co., KY as Mary (Mrs. Morias Hansborough. Polly's father was Benjamin Underwood, (Goshen Baptist Church Minutes 1773-1857, Greene Co., PA) Benjamin died before 1779 when he was "dead" on the Goshen Baptist Church rolls. In September 1779, Mary Underwood was given letters of dismission along with the VanMeters, Hentons, Ventrees.

2. Elizabeth Yount b May 11, 1789 died after 1856, Kentucky mrd Jacob Cline February 6, 1806, Shelby Co., KY

2. Nathaniel Yount b Sept 8, 1791, Kentucky (War of 1812)

2. Joseph Yount b July 29, 1793, Kentucky died Homer, Vermillion County, Illinois married Sarah Redmon June 5, 1819 (Sarah Redmon and Mary Elizabeth Redmon, wife of Jonathan, sisters, daughters of George Redmon(d) of Edgar Co., Illinois
