George W. Yount b. 1854 IA is the son of John Allen Yount b. 1812 KY and Hannah Chamness b. 1817 KY as noted in my Genforum posting Re: George W. Yount dated Feb 16, 2005. In re-reading this posting I note a typo as I state Mary Yunt 37 listed in the 1860 Census for Andrew Co., MO must be George's second wife and it should read John Allen's second wife. This 1860 Census lists George W. Yount's bithplace as Iowa which is confirmed by the 1856 Census listing for this John A. Yunt family in Hardin Co., IA.
The genealogy of George W. Yount and Mary Ellen O'Bryan is most complicated as Mary Ellen had been married twice before her marriage to George W. and George was married three times after his marriage to Mary Ellen. It is also confusing in that in the Census listings the surnames of the children do not necessarily reflect their parentage.
I think I have Mary Ellen's marriages and children figured out as follows:
1)Mary Ellen O'Bryant b. 1845 TX marries James Collins b. 1839 AR abt. 1860 in Crawford Co., AR (See 1860 Census - Van Buren, Crawford Co., AR)
Children:
John A.D. Collins b. 1862 AR
2)Mary Ellen O'Bryant b. 1845 TX marries Thomas Dabbs b. 1829 TN abt. 1865 in Franklin Co., AR ( See 1870 Census - White Rock, Franklin Co., AR)
Children:
Thomas had 3 children from a previous marriage namely Milton b. 1856, Chloy b. 1860 and Martha b. 1861
Children of Mary Ellen and Thomas Dabbs:
Luther D. Dabbs b. 1866 AR
Mary E. Dabbs b. 1868 AR
Richard Dabbs b. 1870 AR
Charles Dabbs b. 1872 AR
Ellenor Dabbs b. 1877 AR
3) Marry Ellen O'Bryant b. 1845 TX marries George W. Yount b. 1853 IA on 09 April 1879 in Crawford Co., AR ( See 1880 Census - Jasper, Crawford Co., AR)
Children:
James Arthur Yount b. 24 Sep 1881 AR
There is a record of George W. Yount marrying Emiline Graves on 04 Oct 1891 in Crawford Co., AR but this cannot be confirmed by Census listings. George then moved to Louisiana where he married Vinnie Malone 05 Aug 1894 in Natchitoches Parish, LA ( See 1900 Census Grant Parish, LA and 1910 & 1920 Census Richland Parish, LA.) George later married Mary McPhearson Beach in LA
