I am looking for information on the Juncker family that had lived in Wolfskirchen, today north Alsace, France--sometimes governed by Nassau-Saarwerden (later associated with Germany). These Junckers seemed to have intermarried with the family of Strohs from at least 1643. My Johann Jacob Juncker went to Philadelphia in 1752 and on to Brickerville, Pennsylvania. By 1753, there are as many as three families of Strohs at the very same church--Emanuel (Old Warwick) Lutheran Church, Brickerville. Looking for information to correlate the Emanuel Lutheran Strohs with those in Wolfskirchen, (today) north Alsace. I descend from the Johannes Juncker and Dorothea Neubecker (born Gauersheim, Germany). Johannes Juncker, born circa 1700; died 5-5-1740 in Wolfskirchen; married about 1717 Maria Dorothea Neubecker, born 10-?-1702 in Gauersheim, Ger.; died 5-22-1771. This couple had the following known children recorded at Wolfskirchen Lutheran: 1. Anna Christina, born June 1721; married 5-7-1765 to Thiebold Lutz probably other children in here 2. Johann Georg, born 15 Dec 1726 possibly other children in here 3. Anna Elisabetha, born 25 Feb 1730; died 1731 4. Johann Jacob, born 3 Feb 1732 (went to Brickerville, Pennsylvania) possibly other children in here 5. Maria Elisabetha, born 16 Dec 1738; died 1746 6. Johannes, born 26 Apr 1742; married Maria Elisabetha Klein [Source: Evangelische Church, Gauersheim, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany and Wolfskirchen Parish Records, near Sarre-Union, north Alsace, France] An Agnes Juncker married a Johann Theobald Stroh, son of Michael Stroh on 3 Apr 1643 at or near Wolfskirchen. A Nicholas Juncker married an Ann Margaretha Stroh on 8 Jan 1714/5 near or at Wolfskirchen, Alsace. These Junckers are most likely related to the one who went to Lancaster Co., PA in 1752. Need additional notes to substantiate this theory. Sharon Yonker Tate of Illinois heard from a German archivist who said our Juncker line was in Wolfskirchen from the early 1600s. He said this... "The Neubecker family lived in Vollerdingen, their origin is Herschheim, Rheinland-Pfalz. The Junker family was in Wolfskirchen before the war of 30 years (1618-1648). This was was very, very hard for the region, therefore went Johannes or Hans JUNKER away in a more secure part and returned back to Wolfskirchen in 1647." [Source: Dr. Gerhard Hein, Cologne, Germany]
