I do have a John Junker in Minnesota, I am not sure of the time. It is a distant relationship. My husbands grandfather's family were raised by Pastor Junker and his wife Maria.
Maria was Maria Schorer sister to Pastor Louis Junker's wife.
Maria Schorer-Junker was a sponsor of Emil's oldest daughter Hilda. Maria died shortly after they left Eitzen, Minnesota as the church in Eitzen sent Pastor Junker a sympathy card. ( from church records )
Maria was a sister of Margaretha Schorer. After Margaretha passed away Maria and her husband Pastor Louis Junker took care of the children of Margaretha Schorer and Ferdinand Monhardt's children, Robert Herman, Emil and Otto.

Long Time City Resident Succumbs at 93
Otto Monhardt, 93, 1000 N. North Avenue, died at his home this morning
from infirmities of old age. He was born November 14, 1864 in Weidlesbach,
Switzerland. At the age of 1 1/2 he came to America with his parents and
settled in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
Mr. Monhardt and two of his three brothers were taken into the home of an
uncle, the Rev. and Mrs. L. Junker, Morris, Minnesota at the death of their
mother in 1869
Later they moved to to Eitzen, Minnesota, where he grew to manhood and
learned the trade of wagon maker.
He worked in Itasca and Roselle, Illinois before moving to Fairmont on Jan.
1, 1904. He was employed for many years in the shop of Heman Schafer,
Fairmont, and later with R. J. Hubert until 1944 when he Monhardt retired.
He married Freida Stein, December 29, 1895. she preceded him in death
on October 30, 1952. He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. B. F. Bird; Mrs. A. A. Struck; Mrs.
Leo Gaworski; Mrs. John Obermeyer, all of Fairmont and Mrs. F.H. Greupner
Elk River.
Also surviving are three sons, Victor, Fairmont, Ervin, Boston Mass.; Robert,
Minneapolis; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services are pending word from relatives at a distance. Olson funeral
home is in charge of arrangements.
From the civilian register of Trullikon District of Andelfinger, Kanton, Zurich, Switzerland.
"The first record is of the father of Ferdinand Monhardt. His first name was missing from the record. However, with further research that his name is Johannes. (Family lore has it that he was a silk merchant.) He was born on April 6, 1797 and died on November 16, 1864. He had two sons: Joh. Freidrich born 1828 and Ferdinand born August 24, 1833. Further research has unearthed another son,
Johann Gottlieb, born May 3, 1824.
Joh. Freidrich born 1828 had a son named Otto Robert born 1861 died 1925 in Lyon, France. And he had a son named Robert born 1885, and was a merchant and was married in 1922 in Lyon, France.
Ferdinand, born October 24, 1833, was married on October 7, 1858 at Aarau, Kanton Aargau, Switzerland, to Margaretha Schorer from Wangen, Kanton Bern, Switzerland, Margaretha was born on June 10, 1831.
We need further research on Johann Gottleib as he has just been found earlier this month, June, 2002.
Ferdinand and Margaretha had 4 sons. Three of their sons were born at Wangen, Kanton Bern, Switzerland. They are the twins: Samuel Robert born September 9, 1860. (My husband Rich’s grandpa)
and Johan Herman born September 9, 1860, and Ferdinand Otto born October 22, 1864. They are still listed as being citizens of Trullikon, Kanton Zurich, Switzerland. (According to this, they must have moved from Wangen to Trullikon)
The family left Switzerland on March 10, 1868 and immigrated to American and settled at Sheboygan, Wisconsin were their son Emil Carl was born on September 15, 1869. The Mother died of homesickness on September 19, 1871.
Ferdinand re-married and they had 1 daughter Freida. Freida married George Stoner. They had two children,Ambrose and Eleanore. Neither was married. Both died, also the parents died.
After Ferdinand remarried, Herman and Emil went to live with their uncle, Pastor Junkor, whose wife was a sister of their mother Margaretha Schorer. They lived near Melrose in Sparta, Wisconsin from 1878 to 1882, then at Eiten, Minnesota from 1882 to 1898.
Pastor Junker sent Emil and Herman to college to become ministers. Robert and Otto stayed with their Dad

Notes by Marion Wurm, (She is this lady that lives in Nebraska, U.S.A. I found a letter from her in one of Rich’s aunts effects after she passed away.)
Ferdinand’s three eldest sons went by their middle names, Robert, Herman and Otto. Emil and Lorraine Monhardt write from Chicago, Illinois that Robert was born at Wiedlesbach, Switzerland. Also Victory and Myrtle Monhardt write that Otto was born at Wiedlesbach.
Pastor Junker’s first name was Louis, and his wife’s first name was Maria, as Maria Schorer-Junker was a sponsor of Emil’s eldest daughter, Hilda. Her maiden name would have been Schorer as she was a sister to Margaretha Schorer, wife of Ferdinand Monhardt. Maria died shortly after they left Eitzen, Minnesota as the church in Eitzen sent Pastor Junker a sympathy card. ( From church records)
Robert married Emlie Zimmer, had 9 children, Herman, Bertha, Clara, Walter, Emil, Helen, Hilda, Anna and Dorothy. Robert died March 1, 1929. Marriage date: 1900
Herman married Mathilda Burmeister and had 7 children, Paul, Clara, Frieda, Edwin, Theodore, Lydia and Selma. Herman died November 7, 1936. Marriage date: July 7, 1886
Otto married Frieda Stein and had 8 children, Agnes, Esther, Stella, Victor, Ervin, Erna, Renata, Robert.
Otto died August 8, 1958. Marriage date: December 29, 1895
Emil married Magdelana Gruber and had 6 children, Hilda, Oscar, Rosalia, Emil, Malinda, Esther.
Emil died December 19, 1951. Marriage date: September 9, 1893.
I do have all the Monhart's especially Robert Monhardt married to Amelie Zimmer, they were my husband's grandparents. I am in contact with Marion in Nebraska and her husband is related through Emil Monhardt.
