alexander youngson & liz jaffray, old deer, 1799
Hi..I am looking for some ancestry. My mothers father was William Youngson Mearns of Kinellar, Aberdeen. His mother was a Margaret Youngson of Pitsligo daughter of Alexander Youngson and Helen Chapman, married Pitsligo 1832.An 1881 census lists this Alexander Youngson as inspector for the poor...age 78.. born Strichan, Aberdeen. The Lds lists an Alexander Youngson born 1801 in Strichen to Alexander Youngson and Elisabeth Jaffray (Jeffries) married 1799 in Old Deer.William Mearns was a farmer in South Dakota and I have some letters written to him from his mother in Aberdeen and she mentions a Mrs. Jaffray who was in Williams household.I do not know for certain who is the father of Alexander Youngson married to this Elisabeth Jaffray... I can only guess at dates in the lds... and the closest one I find is an Alexander Youngson born 1773 to Hugh Youngson and Jean Leith.. which may or may not be correct. If you have any info to help me onward I would appreciate it.Dev Crippen
