It seems to me that Alexander of Essex Co. has been well researched, and his will published in several places. His death date was 1727 so I believe it would have been impossible for this James, born ca. 1760 to be one of his sons. He did have a son, James who maried Anna Nash, but this son James was born several years before the one you reference.
I, too, would love to be able to connect this James to parents, but so far no luck.
