Janet, Are you related in any way to the Younger family? I looked at your message posting and found some families that align with mine. My ggrandmother was a cousin of Cole Younger. I am currently researching a Gilbert Younger out of Beaufort County,NC. Gilbert died in 1803 and without a will left very little to go on as far as figuring out his genealogy as does Joshua and many of the Younger men who came from Maryland to Kentucky. Gilbert's items were sold and his daughter was executor. Witnesses included Wollards, Gurganus, Dawson, and Pilly. What I have gained from this so far is that the Wollards married into the Alligoods and the Gurganus families.Very few clues on Gilbert. My ggrandmothers grandmother was an Oates from Perquamin County,NC. Where I know some Wollards lived. In the Beaufort County,NC census it looks as if the Wollards are living next door to the Youngers(but I'm not sure if the 1800 census was alphabetical or not.) Ellen(Gilbert's daughter) was listed in the census till 1830.) I noticed a Daisey Asby(Ashby) marrying a Woolard in 1865(years later). My ggranadmothers grandfather,Willis Younger m. Caroline Oates(can't recall her father's name now) in the early 1800's Willis and him bought some land in Madisonville,KY with some Ashby's. Although there were Ashby's already in Madisonville. I would have to look up which family. I haven't had time to research a Ashby or Woolard connection to Oates in NC.Yet. Other familiar names on your site that pertain were Blankenship, Carter, Bourland(who was my ggrandmother,Emma Younger's ggrandfather on the Kirkwood side.) All from around Madisonville.I really have no idea if the names at the sale of Gilbert's household items were related. Just looking for some connection. A real connection I have found though is through the Hosea Gurganus's. A Gurganus married a Toney in South Carolina.(I think it was a James Monroe Toney married a Martha Gurganus.) Her family was from NC. The Younger Boy's grandfather first married a Toney in Albermarle,VA. One of the Younger men came from Baltimore,MD to Orange County,NC(Joseph Younger). There are several other Younger families in NC who are not related as the Youngers have done DNA on several different groups. If you have any info. on any of this I would appreciate it. Thanks.
