Wow! I like that Missouri skepticism! Here in Utah we (sometimes) believe everything we're told. There are a couple of curious things with the whole Litton-Miles-Youngblood situation, like John Miles Youngblood having the same name as his stepfather John Miles, and the age difference between Thomas-2 Litton/Litten and John Miles Youngblood. I know this is academic to you, but I believe the solution I propose fits all the pieces together.
I also think you're onto something with checking the Quaker records, too; I've ordered them and will let you know if I learn something different.
I'm a little confused about John Miles Youngblood's post-Maryland career. You've found a good deal about that and I understand there were DNA tests which exploded some long-held theories but I'm not sure what those theories were.
Does John Miles Youngblood have known descendants today whom the DNA tests apply to? Was your Jeremiah Youngblood at one time thought to be a descendant of John Miles Youngblood?
Many thanks for your thoughtful and challenging response.
