Philo Youngs NY, OH. IN. KS. 1787-1898
Looking for parents of Philo S. Young born about 1787 NY. and wife Amity about 1791 CT.I am also posting information about the other Philo Youngs I have found, who have been mistaken for mine and are not, but are probably related.
Philo S. Sr. and Amity Young moved from NY. probably Genesee Co. to Ohio, Trumball and/or Holmes County between 1830 and 1840.Amity died after 1851.Philo was in Marshall Co., IN. in 1854.Their children that I know of were Philo Jr. born 1819, Mary (Young) Fessenden, and Norman Young, all born NY.Philo Jr. married 1. Susanah Peterson and 2. Jane Newsom and died in Kansas in 1898.I know that Philo Sr. and Amity had a large family but they are elusive. Some possibilities are:
A James Rodney Young was born in about 1836 in Ohio, married Rebecca Potell, and had children Sylvester and Philo P. Young, which are both family names, so he may be another son of Philo and Amity. Philo P Young, son of Rodney and Rebecca, was born in about 1870 in Indiana and married Angie Andrews.Philo P. Young probably died in Fresno, California in about 1920.
Another possible son of Philo and Amity is John Henry Young born Dec. 1830 Ohio.I believe he married Elizabeth Teal and had a son Norman.
A Philo S. Young, was born 1833 in Locke, NY. son of Hiram and Ruth (Chipman) Young. They lived in Genoa, Cayuga Co., NY. 1n 1850.This Philo married a Mary and died in in 1865 in SC. during the civil War. I wonder if Hiram might be a brother to my Philo S. Young Sr.
A Philo R. Young was born in about 1865 in Kansas to Joseph Robert and Lou Young, who were both born in Missouri.Philo R. Young married a Mary J.His father Robert was born about 1835.Philo R. Young was living in Kansas City in 1905.
I hope the information is of help to someone else because it is a confusing quest, especially when you start out thinking as I did that no one else on the planet could have such a name and then they appear everywhere. But because I don't think that two or more people could independently come up with the name I think that they are probably all related somehow.
