Michael,
There was a Jacob Lewis Younce born 05 April 1844 in Todd, Elks Cross Roads, Watauga Co., North Carolina. He died 26 September 1921 near Franklin, Macon Co., North Carolina. I have his Civil War records
Nat. Archives file # W.C.924-946
According to these records he was a Sgt. Co. 1, 13th Reg. Tenn. Vol. Calv. I have no record of him serving in Company E, 37th North Carolina Troops. This is the only Jacob Younce I know of who was born in North Carolina in or about 1844.
If this is the same Jacob I have additional information about him that I would be glad to share.
Linda Younce Boyle
