Linda , I am not sure where the family tree
I got this info concerning the spelling of
Roten or Rolen originated. It was given to me
by my great uncle Ivan Younce who is 86
0r so years old and is the grandson of
Solomon Younce and Martha " Mattie" Greer.
This Solomon is known as " Black Solomon"
as his grandfather was known as " Red Solomon" . Are you familiar with the Younce
family connection to the Boone's (as in Daniel Boone)? You can find a link by looking
back through Martha Greer ( wife of Black Solomon)also Charlotte Younce ( daughter of
Red Solomon) married into the same Greer family that is traced back to the Boone's.
Currently I am looking for info on a Younce
( probably spelled differently) that was a
blacksmith that served under Gen George
Washington. This has been told in the family for some time and I am hoping to verify this.
Thanks for the info !
