1860 Deerfield, Oxford, ME, Gustavus A, York, p.568.Hollis Turner's, History of Peru from 1789 to 1911. p. 300-1.,"Gustavus York came from Monmouth in 1840 and settled on the Fred Davenport farm.His wife, Attie and theri three oldest children constituted the family then...They lived in Dixfield, across the river fromPeru Ctr.He left wife in two or three years...Many of the sons were more prosperous and better men than the parent, for the reason they did not inherit his intemperate habits.Mr. York resided in a small cabin above mentioned in Dixfield the last years of his life.He left farm in Peru around 1850.
