Yes …I think we have found a connection!!!!
Irish Catholics named York, born in Ireland (1809-1810), immigrated to North America before the Potato famine (1845-1850, with given names of Patrick, James, Thomas …
Yes, it is very possible that my James 1810 came to the US before settling in Richmond Township Ontario.I do not know if he emigrated as an adult, or as a child with his parents. He may very well have emigrated to NY and then later to Ontario, I do not know.I know he was born in 1810 in Ireland and the next event I know of is his marriage in abt. 1843 Ontario (age 33) and the birth of son, James, in 1843.
Thanks for the Langford lead.I look forward to learning any other info you have found on the Yorks in Langford.Actually I am interested in all the info you have on your York ancestors, as I believe we are related.I have an excel spreadsheet on the descendants of James 1810 that I will email to you.
Tom Yorke
Note: The "E" was added by my grandfather in the 1920s when a cousin Patrick "Harry" Yorke of Washington PA convinced the family that the correct historic spelling of the family name is with an "E" at the end.All records I have seen prior up to James York's marriage record of 1843 and census records of 1850 are all wiothout the "e" on the end of York.
