Michelle, I am a descendant of the St. John's family of Yopps. My records from the Marriage Records in Paducah show a Jasper Yopp to Elizabeth Cites(Seitz?) on 1/9/1855 and a Caspar Yopp to Delania Smith on 2/1/1864. The latter is more likely your ancestor. There is also a marriage of a John Yopp to Lavada Browning on 2/22/1893 and a John yopp to Sarah Schneider on 11/7/1892. In the 1860 census of McCracken Co. it lists a Jaspar Yopp as being married to a Lizzia (the Elizabeth mentioned earlier) with four children, one by her earlier marriage. Jasper is only 27 years old and certainly could have had another child in 1866. The only other reference to a John Yopp is a son born to Martin and Barbara Limbach (my line)in 1859 (baptized 2/6/1859). There is a John Yopp buried in the new St. John's cemetery. His dates are B.2/20/1861-d.3/23/1915. This is all I have for now. John Yopp.
