Hi Sheri,
Thanks for the posting. YES this is a wonderful site.
Where was your grandfather born?
These Yolton's are not my direct lines - If James Ralston was a son of Joseph & Mary Morehead- then Joseph could be a brother of my GGG grfather Samuel Ralston who married Elizabeth McConnell...they lived in Hancock Co WV all their lives & buried there. I've been sorting out all the Ralstons there to determine my Samuel's parents....
There were a whole bunch of Joseph & Samuel's in this family lines & it's tough to figure out who was a son of whom...
I found some info in some old obits that were sent to me
& have started trying to piece some of this info together. I have collected census records, marriages, cemetery & land deeds & any other records that I can get my hands on of my Ralstons who lived on Kings Creek since 1783 or maybe even as early as 1775.
I wish I had more info on the Yolton family to share with you. If you find out where your grandfather was born- & it's
from Hancock or early Brooke Co VA then I'd bet it is from this family bunch. Good luck & Happy Trails on your searching, keep in touch if you find out more info.
Have a wonderful week.
