I came across the following info in recently bequeathed 1977 reprint of J. Simpson Africa's 'History of Huntingdon & Blair Counties', originally published in 1883.
A Jesse Yocum came to Brady Twp, Huntingdon County from Chester in about 1812 and initially operated a public house @ the old Fee stand below Ardenheim. He became a citizen of Brady in 1813 and lived more than 90 years. Jesse is the father of Marshall & Lewis (note different spellings, but undoubtedly the same people) of Mapleton. Other entries indicate there was both a Jesse Sr and Jesse Jr who were property owners in Brady in 1847. It is not clear which, if either, of these Jesse's is the same as the father of Marshall & Lewis.
Sorry I can't be more specific, but there were a reasonably large number of Yocum's with the same first names in Huntingdon County at the time who may have had a common ancestor, but were not of the same immediate family. In particular, Jesse appears to be the Huntingdon patriarch of one familiy of YOCUM's, while John (who came from Chester County in about 1800 and is patriarch of my family), appears to be another.
