The records online are not complete (of course few are!).They are abstracted from both the original records and from transcriptions, both on microfilm. But there is considerably more information in both sources, such as the listing of the Godparents, witnesses, and in some cases, references to occupations and past residences. For example, as I just posted in response to another post, we find in one Baptismal record:
"Baptism: 28 March 1720.
Child:Maria Barbara.
Parents: Michel Krause citizen and member of the Court in Edigheim and his wife Maria Elisabeth, their daughter born the 25th of this month.
Godparents: Johann Matthes Jochem, true surviving son of the former Philip Jochem of Mörs, and Barbara Maria, true surviving daughter of the former Friedrich Ohngefehr, citizen and member of the Court in Edigheim."
I don't believe that is available online...I haven't looked at the online records since spending a day in SLC and copying the actual records!
Have fun, Kate.Glad you connected with Sara...she's tops when it comes to digging (records, not fossils...that title, of course, is mine!)
