Matthias Yoakum/Jochim in Greenbrier Valley?
Steve Smith, citing Larry Shuck's "Greenbrier County Deed & Will Records", notes that in last 1750/early 1751 Valentine Yoakum and Frederick Zeh had land surveyed for them (presumably in connection with acquisition) in Greenbrier Valley. And so did Matthias Yoakum.
From Audrey Becker's book "The Lives and Legends of the Ozark Yoakums", I gather that there is no record that would establish the location of Matthias' family between 1747 (in what would become Hardy County, WV) and 1755, when he appeared in what would become Botetourt County, VA.
Did Matthias move his family to Greenbrier around 1750, and then relocate to the east after the Frech and Indian War started in 1754?Does anyone have any facts that would support or disprove this speculation?
