I'm from the Bates Cnty., MO Yoakums. My g-g-grandfather was Marcellus (Silas) Yoakum (1854-1910) m. Calla Parker (1856-1930). Marcellus was descended from the Yoakums of Claibourne Cnty., TN and also a descendent of Valentine (Felty) Yoakum who was killed in the Muddy Creek Massacre in 1763. I've also been told that there's a distant relation to Dwight Yoakum, but haven't found the connection yet.
