I am researching the Yerges family, primarily located in Dauphin County, PA. The earliest ancestor I have is Michael Yerges(28 Mar 1793-22 Jul 1866) married to Hannah Coleman,my 3G-grandparents. I descend through their son John and Rachael Miller>George and Anna Gertrude Leitzel>Herman and Vera Leona Engle>Gene and Ursula Laemmerhirt>me. My grandfather spoke of uncles who had moved West in latter 1800's; one to Colorado, said to have been killed in a copper mine, one to California, whose wife and 2 daughters were said to have been killed in the 1906 SF earthquake, and others, whereabouts unknown. I am looking for fellow researchers of the Yerges line. Other spellings of Yerges that I have encountered are: Yerger, Yergers, Yergus,Yoergus, Yeager, Yarrage, and Yerkes(on my grandfather's baptismal certificate, and Yerges on his marriage certificate). I suspect the family was East of Dauphin Co for a while before they appear on the census there. Any information on this line would be greatly appreciated. I am most willing to share what I have.
