I'm looking for info on John Yourex. He was born 1772, died 1813. He came from Holland or Germany and lived in long Island, USA. John married Deborah Van Cott, who was born 1777. They had: James, Charity, John and Elijah.
Elijah Yourex was born 1809 and died Nov. 27, 1882. He was from Kingston and married Patience Cook in July 1837. They had: John, Matilda, Jane, Isaac, Edmund, Deborah, William Penn, and Moses. Deborah Yourex is my great great grandmother (married Thomas Robinson). Patience Cook Yourex's parents are William and Dorothy Baldwin Cook.
A relative told me 2 Yourex brothers ran away from the wars in the Germanic States along the Rhine and in their exit hid in an old chimney overnight in an endeavorer to get to Holland. They were successful and finally got to England and thence to the USA.
My family notes also include several different various of Yourex....Yorex, Yerex, Jores, Joeres, Jeres....Germanic equivalents of the English name "George".
I also have a note that William Yourex came to England via Holland; but I need to ask my uncle how he's related....maybe(???) one of the 2 brothers??
