Dear Arline,
Saw your message about Julia L. Jackson, General Stonewall's Jackson daughter, and as a professor of Civil War history, I must correct you on an item or two. Yes, Julia was baptized at the home of Thomas Yerby on April 23, 1863. Without looking it up, I believe Thomas was something like a "3rd cousin, 5 times removed" to me. However, his home was near Fredericksburg, Virginia, NOT Richmond, and it (unfortunately) was certainly not a "mansion." Sorry to "burst your bubble" about possibly having rich ancestors...ha ha...certainly not Thomas Yerby. As for genealogy, my Yerby ancestors also came from Lancaster County, VA, and eventually moved to Tuscaloosa and Fayette Counties in Alabama. I'd welcome any exchange of Yerby info. Thanks, Steve Longcrier
