I am working on suppositions at this point. We are in the process of moving and some of my information is in storage. However, I do have the following:
CAPT. JAMES BLOUNT (c.1620-1686), according to Pfafman (see note bottom of page) was a Captain in the Life Guards of Charles II of England. He was born Sodington, Worcestershire, England, emigrated to America and was settled in Isle of Wight County, Virginia by 1655, and died 1686 in Albemarle Province, Chowan Precinct, Colony of Carolina. He married twice but the name of his first wife whom he married in Virginia has been lost. After her death, he moved his family to Albemarle Province, North Carolina (now Albemarle County) where he married secondly 1665 Anna Willix, widow of Robert Rascoe of Roanoke, and a daughter of Bathazzar Willix of Ipswich, Maine. Capt. James Blount was a member of the House of Commons, member of Court in 1680, one of Council of Assistant Deputies, and a Burgess of Chowan Precinct. He owned land grants near present town of Edenton, North Carolina.
Note: Although the Prescott chart, on which much of this outline is based, shows the surname of Capt. James Blount's second wife to be Willis, there is substantial evidence to support that her surname was Willix. See NC Colonial Records, The Higher Court Minutes, vol. 2, pp. 181f, containing numerous depositions re: Anna Willix, her sisters, etc.
