Information came from:THE YELDELL FAMILY of Merstham Parish, Surrey County, England, 1552 A.D., and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.A., 1693 A.D., Abbeville and Edgefield Districts, S.C., et al. by Oliver C. Weaver, Jr, published 1996. His source is a Letter of Jasper Hammond Yeldell dated June 28, 1878. He is the son of William and Mary Abalone as the letter quotes in the book; "My father, William Yeldell, ws the youngest child of his parents. I do not know when he was born, but knowing his age at death and the date of his death suppose he was born about the year 1776. He was married Feb 19th 1804 to Mary Abalone Shibley, a widow with four children, whose maiden name was Steifer, of French and German descent. Her age also unknown. Think whe was about my father's age....My father, William Yeldell, died near Longmires S. C. on the 5th of May 1826, at the age of fifty years. Mary Abalone Yeldell, my mother, died near Longmire S.C. Nov 4th 1835....They had six children."
No other reference is made to her prior marriage. I did find Shibley mentioned again
when a son(Wm Henry,b Aug 27, 1809) of the above married in 1837 to Elizabeth Shibley a widow whose maiden name was Glanton.
Sorry, this is all I could find in the above mentioned book on the Shibley's, no mention of Ships. Hope this will be of help.
