The Yates later Yeatts came from Yorkshire England at least my Yeatts did in 1635 on a ship named America and probably married a lady passenger on the ship by the name of Joan Jobe.

The name Yeatts is traced to Pittsylvania County Virginia it was changed from Yates sometime between 1820 and 1895. Your Yeatts went to Tenn probably by way of Patrick County Virginia.
