In 1858, Austin Newton Yeats built his cabin on the banks of the Lambert Branch of the Brazos river in Hood Co. TX.
Yeats left his native TN with wife Frances Bond and settled in 1854 in what would become Hood County. Shortly after building the cabin, Yeats left his wife and 5 children to go fight for the Confederacy at the outbreak of the Civil War. After spending time in a Union prison, Yeats and his brother-in-law returned to Texas.

This info is from the Hood County Heritage Society's publication "Heritage Camp Press" which came out this week.
