John Yeaton OF Richmond, ME m. 4/9/1828 at Richmond, ME, Anna Barbara Orff OF Waldoboro, ME. BY some accounts her parents were John Orff and Mary Deal. Based on her 4/9/1828 marriage, Anna Barbara Orff may have been b. say 1807. The Orff surname does not appear in GenForum, but there are miscellaneous records that may contain some clues to this family. VR's of Jefferson, ME (originally Ballstown) NEHGR 73/185 cite a John Orff who d. 12/31/1891, aged 82 yrs, 5 mos, so b. about Jul. 1809, and a Margery Orff who d. 5/1864, perhaps his wife. No age at death given. The Torsey Family, NEHGR 61/375-378 cites a Simon Orff who m. Syvilla Torsey (3) William (2) Dr. Gideon Torsey(1). Syvilla is listed as the fifth child, following the 4th, Henry Augustus Torsey whose birthdate is given as 2/7/1812, so Syvilla may have been b. about 1814, indicating a birthyear for Simon Orff of, say, 1809. Syvilla was OF Monmouth, ME, and she and Simon Orff resided at Gardiner, ME. The Erskine Family of Bristol, ME, NEHGR 74/16-34 and 74/87-97, cites a Lydia Erskine (4) John (3) William (2) Alexander (1), this Lydia (4) b. 9/10/1818 m. 1st (sometime before the birth of Ella Frances Doe 2/11/1846, who d. 9/26/1847, Isaac B. Doe, who d. 2/1/1852, and 2nd Nicholas Orff b. 5/21/1816 who resided at Waldoborough, ME. They had Ella M. Orff 8/9/1860 who resided at Waldoborough and married 2/10/1889 Edward M. Wight. Nicholas Orff d. 8/31/1907. One might suspect he had a first wife and children before his marriage sometime after 2/1/1852, at age 36, to widow Lydia [Erskine] Doe. The rarity of this surname and the proximity of all the towns involved would suggest these people are all related. Anna Barbara Orff b. say 1807, John Orff b. about 7/1809, Simon Orff b. say 1809 (dates based on the rule of thumb of husbands being 5 years older than their wives not always 100% correct), and Nicholas Orff b. 5/21/1816, would appear to be siblings, children of John Orff b. say 1782, if Anna Barbara Orff b. say 1808 was his first child, and his wife Mary Deal might have been b. say 1787.
