Capt. William Yeaton, Jr. b. about 9/1764 at Portsmouth, NH, eldest son of William Yeaton b. about 1736 and Elizabeth Sprague b. 8/22/1743, settled at Alexandria, VA, as did some of his siblings. Alexandria Advertiser and Commercial Intelligencer of 7/29/1803, "Died yesterday morning, Mrs. Yeaton, consort of Mr. Wm. Yeaton of this place". I believe this would be Sally Brackett who m. William Yeaton at Portsmouth, NH 2/25/1793. They had a dau. Louisa Tuscan Yeaton b. 12/13/1795 at Portsmouth, NH. The Salem Gazette of 12/14/1821, "At Alexandria, Captain Fabius Whiting of the US Artillery to Miss Louisa Yeaton" and the Columbian Centinel of 12/15/1821, "At Alexandria, Captain Fabius Whiting of the US Artillery to Miss Louisa T. Yeaton". Capt. William Yeaton, Jr. m. 2nd at Portsmouth, NH, 11/21/1805 Lucy Chauncy (6) b. 10/20/1778 and they had a dau. Julia Ann Eliza Yeaton, "The Boston Commercial Gazette of 6/7/1804, "At Alexandria, Lieut. David Van Ness of the U.S. Army, Julia Ann Eliza, YOUNGEST daughter of Wm. Yeaton, Esq.", and The Portsmouth Journal of Literature and Politics of 5/29/1824, "In Alexandria, Lieut. David Van Ness of the U.S. Art., formerly of this post to Miss Julia Ann Eliza Yeaton, daughter Wm.Yeaton, Esq.". The Essex Register of 2/16/1808, "In Portsmouth, R.S. Yeaton, Age 34, Merch. of Alexandria". And The Repertory of 2/16/1808, "Richard S. Yeaton, 34, Merchant of Alexandria". This would be Richard Sprague Yeaton bap. 3/7/1774, So. Church Portsmouth, younger brother of William Yeaton above. The Portsmouth Journal of Literature and Politics of 10/4/1834, "Died at Alexandria, D.C. on the 20th inst. Joshua Yeaton, Esq., merchant of this place, formerly of Portsmouth, NH". Joshua b. 6/5/1785 would be a younger brother of the two men above. The New York Columbian of 7/12/1820, "At Bridgeport, Barbadoes, William Chancey Yetaon, Age 19, only son of William Yeaton, Esq. of Alexandria", and the New Hampshire Gazette of 7/18/1820, "Died in Barbadoes, June 1st Mr. William Chauncey Yeaton, 19, only son of William Yeaton, Esq. of Alexandria", and also the New York Daily Advertiser of 7/20/1820, "At Barbadoes, ist June Mr. William Chauncey Yeaton, aged 19, only son of William Yeaton, Esq. of Alexandria. This last is puzzling because age 19 would indicate a birth year of 1801 and father William Yeaton didn't marry Lucy Chauncy/Chauncey until 11/21/1805, yet this boy had the middle name of Chauncey. Perhaps one paper got the age wrong, and the others picked it up from there. Or..... I haven't been able to determine the parentage of Sally Brackett, although I have collected extensive data on all the various Brackett families of the period. Lucy Chauncey, I believe, was the 11th child of her parents, but I don't have the names of the others. Could there have been a Sarah/Sally Chauncey who married a Brackett who died, and then as Sally Brackett married William Yeaton? And when she died he married one of her younger sisters?
