I found record of an Erasmus Yeatman landing in Maryland ca. 1652-53. Asfor the Yeatmans coming to Newfoundland for work in the cod fisheries, it seems that the Va.branch was somehow involved in maritime activity also.
My great-great-great grandfather was involved in building Keelboats along the Monongahela River in the 1780'-90's,just after leaving Va.. His son was an early steamboat captain, as was one of his sons, both out of Nashville, Tennessee.
