I thought I was one of the very few Yeatmans too - what a surprise it was to find this website. I'm from New Zealand. Definitely pronounced "Yateman". In the USA, it is amazing how many variations of the one original name "Yeatman" have developed through mistakes in either spelling or pronunciation. For heaven's sake, please correct people when they either pronounce it or spell it incorrectly. The original name should be preserved wherever possible.
