Becky, I am feeling like an idiot. Cannot find the diary anywhere, and now I'm wondering if I was thinking of Andrew Gilmore's diary (he also went west to make his fortune during the goldrush). Will keep looking, but perhaps I "imagined" a diary or journal that didn't exist. If you are aware Charles DID keep a journal, than let me know, as maybe the senior moment I suffered isn't as big as it looks right now!

Hope this doen't mean you won't share your new Gilmore data!
I, too, have some new stuff, but nothing on the Yeatmans.
