my mother spent the summer i turned eleven telling me stories about the yeary family, and the descendants down to her. she also had a family tree that my cousin imogene forbis had researched and printed that we also refereed to, and it had incidental stories. the story of origin for the yearys was that the two brother came to america to find land==due to tyrannical landlords in ireland; they were known as yearry in ireland. the family was able ti send the two brothers. and upon arriving in the states, the two brothers parted ways and never saw each other again. the one brother i am descended from, benedict, moved to virginia where land was avialable. they prospered; but the civil war meant that all their land was taken from them as reparation by the north. this instigated yeary's going to oklahoma during the land rush, wherre they settled in chickasha, with two sisters and some brothers there, they chose chickasha for its proximity to the indian nation, where the united states gave grants for startup business. part of the family raised horses, one the grainery, one an alderman. i have many more antedotes about family members that my mother told me that year, and she retells me all the time.
